Tape Drives are used to backup information on one or more computers. Tape drives are helpful because they hold large amounts of information (some over 20 GB), and the tapes can be removed and transported.  Tape drives also allow for easy recovery of data, should something happen to the hard drive. Tape drives can be internal or external, depending on your needs.  The tape drive pictured above is an external drive.
