Monitors are available in many shapes, sizes and colors and resemble television screens.  The most common sizes are 14", 15" 17" 19" and 21".  New technology has allowed for new flat screens, but most still retain a slightly curved shape.  Older monitors were monochrome - a black background with only one color in the foreground.  Newer screens are LCD, VGA,  SVGA and SXGA.  Monitors attach to the computer via a video cable.
