| Memory chips come in two basic types: SIMM and DIMM chips. SIMM chips are shorter and used mainly in older computers. They came in 30 pin and 72 pin varieties. They are being replaced by DIMM chips, which are longer, faster and can hold more memory. DIMM chips have 168 pins. | |
